Liverpool are on the hunt for a new manager this summer, and Ruben Amorim has been heavily linked.

Jurgen Klopp‘s final few months as the Reds boss is proving to be more difficult than many thought.

Liverpool have dropped down to second in the Premier League table, while their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Europa League took a huge hit after a shock 3-0 defeat against Atalanta this week.

Irrespective of what happens, Liverpool fans will give Klopp an incredible sendoff in his last game at the club, and he completely deserves it.

While Klopp focuses on what’s happening on the pitch, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are on the hunt to find his successor.

Amorim is said to be the favourite to become the next Liverpool manager.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Ruben Amorim and Liverpool

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Ruben Amorim and Liverpool over the last few weeks.

The 29-year-old is doing a phenomenal job at Sporting Lisbon. His team is on track to win the Portuguese League title, and all the focus is on that at the moment.

However, numerous reports have claimed that Amorim and Liverpool have reached an agreement for him to become the next Liverpool manager.

The Sporting Lisbon boss seemed annoyed by the speculation and decided to have his say. He claimed that he has had no interview with any club and as a result, there’s no agreement in place either (The Athletic).

Fabrizio Romano has now had his say on the situation.

The journalist confirmed that there is indeed no agreement between Liverpool and Amorim, but the Reds have made initial enquiries to find out about the 39-year-old’s plans for the future, his contract clauses and everything else.

Romano further claimed that Amorim is indeed the favourite for the Liverpool job right now.

He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Liverpool didn’t make contact with Roberto De Zerbi but they had direct contact to be informed on Ruben Amorim’s situation; contract clauses, what’s going on, what are the ideas of the manager in terms of his future… but Ruben Amorim has been very clear. No interview took place.

“Some reports say that he had an interview at that meeting with Liverpool. No. And also, he said no agreement. Nothing has been agreed. And this is real from what I’m hearing.

“As soon as Ruben Amorim will communicate his future to Sporting, he will be open to enter into direct discussions with potential clubs.

“Obviously with Liverpool, he’s the favourite for the job because Liverpool really appreciate him, but he’s not the only option.”

Ruben Amorim wants to sign two players if he becomes Liverpool manager

Ruben Amorim has not agreed anything with Liverpool just yet, but there is a lot of speculation already about what could happen if becomes the next Reds boss.

One rumour has suggested the players Amorim could target if he takes charge of the Reds.

The 39-year-old would apparently like to bring Sporting Lisbon duo Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande to Anfield if takes the Liverpool job.

The Reds have previously been offered a chance to sign Inacio, who is highly regarded as one of the most talented young defenders in Portugal.

Diomande, on the other hand, is another truly phenomenal talent, but the Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

It will be interesting to see if Amorim could lure his two Sporting stars to Anfield if he becomes the next Liverpool manager.
