Newark Freemasons make £500 donation to Newark Mencap to fund weekend break

A generous donation is set to fund a weekend away for adults with learning disabilities.

Newark Freemasons have awarded Newark Mencap £500, which means the charity’s staff will be able to take their clients on a fun weekend away to a specialist hotel in Huddersfield.

Newark Mencap is an independent charity, and receives no government funding.

Mrs Julie Crampton presents a cheque to Mr Neil Allen.

Its specialist adult care service, The Avenue, offers a social opportunity for its clients, helping them develop skills, confidence, independence and make friends.

It is currently able to offer 15 self-funded places per day for the service, which it holds at London Road Congregational Church’s Hall.

Mrs Julie Crampton, a member of Newark Masonic Hall’s charity committee, presented a cheque for £500 to Neil Allen, chairman of Newark Mencap.
