'He's class': Dwight McNeil in awe of 'brilliant' Everton player who he loves playing with

Dwight McNeil has revealed there’s one Everton player that he has loved playing with during the 2023/24 season.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a respectable season for Sean Dyche’s side, scoring two goals and registering five assists in 28 Premier League matches.

McNeil will be looking to add to his tally on Monday evening when Everton make the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

A win over Mauricio Pochettino’s side would see the Blues land their first back-to-back wins of 2024 and ease their relegation woes.

McNeil sat down with, the club’s media ahead of the fixture and revealed one player he loves playing alogside.

The former Burnley winger admitted that he loves playing alongside Jarrad Branthwaite at Goodison Park. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb season to date and has attracted the attention of Europe’s elite.

Talking to Everton’s official website, McNeil said: “He’s class. It’s my first season with him but he’s been brilliant.”

The 24-year-old also claimed that Branthwaite is a leader within Dyche’s first-team squad.

“He’s a proper leader, a proper professional, it’s all credit to him,” he added.

“All of the lads want him to keep going and keep improving because we know of the qualities he’s got. It’s been a pleasure playing with him this year.”

McNeil will be delighted with Everton given relegation boost on Saturday

McNeil and Branthwaite will be delighted with how Everton’s relegation rivals faired on Saturday afternoon.

Luton Town were demolished 5-1 by Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest were held to a draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers. Therefore, a win on Monday would go a long way toward securing Everton’s Premier League status.

It’s no surprise to see McNeil praise Branthwaite’s performances. The 21-year-old has been absolutely superb this season and arguably the Blues’ player of the season.

The Toffees could face a battle to keep hold of the Cumbrian-born defender during the summer transfer window.
