Sacked 3 months ago, 61-yo who's managed 3 PL clubs could replace Moyes at West Ham - report

One truly box office manager is apparently being lined up to replace David Moyes as West Ham United boss.

West Ham boss David Moyes is under real pressure right now and it’s all his own fault really isn’t it?

Things aren’t looking good for the Scot right now, with reports claiming that Tim Steidten will be in control of all player recruitment this summer and beyond.

Moyes faces three huge games in quick succession now – Fulham at home and Crystal Palace away in the Premier League as well as the Europa League quarter-final second-leg clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

If things go wrong over the next week, I can definitely see West Ham and Moyes going their separate ways in the summer.

The 60-year-old seems to have thrown away our chances of achieving any kind of success this season with his negative ‘we’re little old West Ham’ approach.

He has allowed his current squad to dwindle down to dangerously low numbers – something that has caused us real problems at this stage of the season.

I actually have no doubts that he’ll be moved on at the end of the season, but who could replace him?

Fan pressure is certainly beginning to increase on Moyes, with many unhappy with his dull approach to the game with his archaic tactics.

Moyes has obviously done a fine job since returning to the London Stadium in December 2019, but it just feels like now’s the time for him to move on.

And it seems as though an elite manager with an absolutely stacked record at the very highest level could replace him…

According to a report from Team Talk, the currently out of work Jose Mourinho is being tipped to take over from Moyes this summer.

Mourinho had four separate spells in England with three different clubs – two with Chelsea, one with Manchester United and one with Tottenham.

He has won 26 trophies during his time in football management, including eight league titles and two Champions Leagues.

The Hammers reportedly offered the 61-year-old a mega-money contract last year, but he obviously remained with Roma in the end.

However, having lost his job with the Serie A side three months ago, Mourinho is on the market as a free agent.

Could Sullivan really do a madness and appoint the Portuguese to replace Moyes as West Ham boss? I just can’t see it happening if I’m honest.

He hardly deploys the most attractive style of football, but he is still box office in every way. Personally, I would take him over Moyes every day of the week, but I really can’t see Mourinho rocking up at the London Stadium anytime soon.
