Tottenham and Liverpool hold transfer talks for 19-year-old likened to Luka Modric

Tottenham continue to be linked with a whole host of players in the transfer market, as the summer window nears.

Tottenham have a busy month ahead of them on the pitch, as they look to close out qualification for the Champions League. A top-four finish would guarantee Spurs inclusion in the competition, while fifth may also earn them a spot.

Elsewhere, there will be plans put in place for the next phase of Ange Postecoglou‘s project at the club. That will mean some changes in the squad during the transfer window, which likely includes a few exits too.

However, on the arrivals front, there will be plenty of excitement for the market ahead. Tottenham have a proven track record of landing young and exciting talent and could be set to get the next crop of players in the coming months.

At just 19 years old, the Moroccan international could have a big future ahead of him in the game. With that in mind, voetbalkrant reports that Spurs and Liverpool are among the teams holding “exploratory talks” over a deal for Khannouss.

Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig are also credited with interest in El Khannouss, though no price tag is currently set.

Luka Modric comparisons

While it’s early days in his career, there have already been some comparisons between El Khannouss and former Tottenham star Luka Modric. The pair played against each other during the 2022 World Cup when Morocco faced Croatia.

Whether he will be able to live up to the same heights of the great midfielder remains to be seen though. However, it could offer an insight as to the trajectory of El Khannouss, should he go on to fulfil his potential.

Tottenham transfer plans

This summer transfer window will all be about building on the work already done by Postecoglou this season. While El Khannouss may be a welcome addition, it remains to be seen whether he would fit into the team immediately.

Transfer plans could hinge on several factors, such as which players will be leaving the club in the coming months. However, at this stage, a midfielder and another forward option may be targets for Spurs to consider.
