Gabriel Agbonlahor names the striker Tottenham need to go ‘all out’ to sign this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been urged by TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor to go all out for one specific striker this summer.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side now find themselves in the driving seat for Champions League qualification after capitalising on a poor weekend for Aston Villa.

The Lilywhites have climbed above Unai Emery’s side and have the chance to pull clear of them this weekend by beating Newcastle United.

However, Tottenham will be making the long journey north without their striker, Richarlison, who remains sidelined through injury.

The Brazilian has really been out for a number of weeks now having only been able to make cameo appearances of the bench in recent games.

And as the summer transfer window approaches, Agbonlahor is urging Tottenham to upgrade on the 26-year-old with one specific striker.

Tottenham urged to bring in striker who could prove a real bargain

Already, Tottenham have been linked with a number of different strikers ahead of the summer window.

The likes of Santiago Gimenez is believed to be on the radar at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with contact said to have been made.

And another name to be linked is Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak; although it has to be said that feels incredibly unlikely.

But there is one player who Agbonlahor feels would be a great fit for the Lilywhites and that is Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

It has recently been suggested that the Bees could now look to take as little as £30m-£40m for their 28-year-old striker who has just one year left on his deal.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Villa forward has said replacing Richarlison with Toney could take Postecoglou’s side to the next level.

“Spurs should be going all out for him because they can’t keep with Richarlison who I don’t think is good enough for them,” he said.

“Son on the left, you can have like Toney down the middle, you’ve got Maddison behind you on the right you’ve got options. They’ll have Kulusevski, Johnson, whoever you want to play. That’s when you start going to the next level, Spurs”

Richarlison’s injury is becoming a real concern for Spurs

The Brazilian has already missed a number of games earlier in the season to undergo a groin operation.

And to his credit, Richarlison came back stronger from that surgery which saw the 26-year-old go on a hot-streak in front of goal.

However, this knee issue is just another cause for concern over the striker’s reliability as a potential successor for Harry Kane.

Here is a summary of Richarlison’s availability over the last month or so.

Regardless of injuries, with just one senior striker at his disposal, Postecoglou will need reinforcement in that department as Spurs look set to play some form of European football next season.
