'Seems to be problems': BBC pundit unimpressed by two Liverpool players' teamwork v Palace today

Liverpool’s week went from bad to worse as they were beaten by Crystal Palace today to put a major dent in their title hopes.

With Man City winning this weekend and Arsenal taking on Aston Villa today, the title is now out of the Reds’ hands after being within their grasp just a few weeks ago.

It was a performance of real frustration for Liverpool, who never quite got going at their best but still managed to create more than 20 chances without taking one.

For Jurgen Klopp, it was the icing on a very bad tasting cake. After seeing his team hammered by Atalanta in midweek, he’ll have expected a response.

Instead, he got a limp display and some of his key players simply didn’t turn up.

And that included key partnerships, in both defence and midfield.

Speaking on the game on BBC comms, former Celtic manager Neil Lennon was analysing some of the key moments of the game.

And in the first half, Lennon picked up on an apparent lack of cohesion between two of Liverpool’s star defenders, Ibou Konate and Conor Bradley.

“I think Jurgen Klopp has to make changes. There seems to be problems between Bradley and Konate and the space between them. The midfield is one-paced, nice passing but there’s no dynamism. The chances have been few and far between in this first half. Liverpool have to win this game and score two goals in the next 50/60 minutes,” Lennon said.

Conor Bradley and Ibou Konate two of many below par

It was a shame that Bradley had to go off injured but in a way, a break out of the team might do him good.

After his flying start to life as a Liverpool player, he has gone a touch stale in recent weeks and a little bit of time away from the first-team might be what he needs.

As for Konate and his link with Bradley, as Lennon says, it just wasn’t there for some reason.

Liverpool just didn’t have the X-factor at all today and everything they did seemed to have an element of sluggishness about it.

Konate and Bradley were just two of many to not turn up really.
