‘Immense’: Joe Hart was seriously impressed with what the Celtic fans did in win vs St Mirren

Joe Hart has certainly built up an affinity for the Celtic fans ever since his move to Parkhead three seasons ago.

The former England hero’s career looked down and out before Ange Postecoglou rescued him from Tottenham in a £1m 2021 summer move.

Since then, Hart has not just won five trophies including a record-breaking treble, he has also bowled over the Celtic fans for his passion for the club and the relationship he has built with them over his trophy-laden spell.

And against St Mirren, Hart was blown away again at the support the fans showed the team even when they toiled in a tepid first-half showing against The Buddies.

‘I swear’… Joe Hart ‘enjoyed’ Celtic fan criticism

The 3-0 win at Celtic Park set the title race in a new direction as Brendan Rodgers’ side increased their lead at the top to four points.

But even with all that on the line, Hart commended the Celtic support for their efforts in pushing the team forward.

Hart said [Daily Record], “This place, I swear, to still have the feeling like you’ve never won anything. The hunger we feel through the stadium is immense.

“They understand their role and even when people show their discontent it’s not to bury us. It’s just to let us know the standard is constant and we felt it. I enjoyed it.

“Patience was really important and it was important we were aware that the first half probably wasn’t good enough. We are aware it wasn’t good enough but we know we can go up a level and keep going.

“Even with us not playing well we put a lot of pressure on them and put a lot of hard work in to free up the space. I thought the first two goals were exceptional, really important goals.

“Then Adam Idah summed up the impact we got from the bench with a big performance.”

Hart will go down in the Celtic history books not just as a treble-winner but also as one of only two Celtic players who has won every domestic honour on both sides of the border.

With his retirement coming at the end of this season, Rodgers certainly has some big gloves to fill not just because of what Hart does on the pitch, but what he does off it as well.
