Officials and VAR confirmed as Celtic take on Aberdeen in Scottish Cup semi-final

Celtic take on Aberdeen this weekend at the national stadium as Brendan Rodgers looks to keep up his impeccable record in the Scottish Cup at the semi-final stage.

The Irishman has won 15 straight matches in the competition and will be determined to extend his run by guiding the Bhoys to their first domestic final of the season.

Of course, Celtic come into the showdown at the national stadium following a weekend of drama in the Scottish Premiership, where Rodgers’ men comfortably defeated St Mirren before Rangers lost in shock fashion at Ross County.

Nevertheless, cup football is a different kettle of fish entirely, though Peter Leven will lead Aberdeen into the tie as their proposed summer appointment of Elfsborg manager Jimmy Thelin draws closer.

Throughout the rounds, Celtic have beaten Buckie Thistle, St Mirren, and Livingston; nevertheless, the Dons are bound to be a tough test, given they have little else to play for this term besides rubber-stamping their top-flight survival.

Daizen Maeda is injured and won’t take any part in proceedings at Hampden; nevertheless, Liam Scales may have a chance of returning for the tie despite missing our 3-0 victory over the Buddies.

Officials and VAR confirmed as Celtic head to Hampden

With all the action commencing at 12.30 pm, fans unable to attend will be able to catch all the action live on both BBC Scotland and Viaplay on Saturday.

Now, Don Robertson has been appointed as referee for our trip to Hampden; meanwhile, Graeme Taylor and Steven Traynor will run either line [Scottish FA].

Greg Aitken is charged with being the chief VAR operator for the semi-final, and Andrew McWilliam will be on hand to give any contentious decisions a second view. David Dickinson has been brought in as the fourth official on this occasion.

Celtic will be desperate to defend the Scottish Cup as they try to end the campaign by claiming a domestic double.

The victors on Saturday will take on one of either Heart of Midlothian or Rangers in the final on May 25th, which also coincides with the 57th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions’ famous exploits on the continent.

Hopefully, the Bhoys can see off Aberdeen to edge one step closer to silverware this term. Come on Celtic!
