‘Right now’: Andy Townsend is really disappointed with ‘incredible’ Liverpool player

Liverpool suffered a damaging defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are aiming to win the Premier League title ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City this season.

Liverpool are still very much in the race, but the Merseyside club will be bitterly disappointed with their performance and result against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Palace won 1-0 against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. The Reds are now third in the table, level on points with second-placed Arsenal and two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Andy Townsend’s verdict on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah

One of the Liverpool players who failed to make a huge impact against Palace was Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian forward had chances, but he could not take them. And, former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend thinks that Salah has gone off the boil.

Townsend said about Salah on talkSPORT (8:14 am, April 15, 2024): “Salah has gone off the boil lately. Look, he has been incredible. No one is knocking what he has done, but right now, at the moment, Mo Salah is not playing at his very best.”

Liverpool need Mohamed Salah back to his best

In my opinion, if Liverpool are to beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season, then they need Mohamed Salah back in form.

Salah is one of the best players on the planet and is world class. There is no doubt about that, but it is also true that he is going through a bad spell.

The former Chelsea attacker should have scored from open play against Manchester United and had chances to find the back of the net against Crystal Palace this past weekend.

Salah needs to start taking his chances and scoring goals again for Liverpool to become the champions of England this season.
