Why Ben Foster thinks Dominik Szoboszlai is ‘perfect’ for Liverpool
As a player, Ben Foster played for Liverpool’s arch rivals, Manchester United. However, as a pundit, he is some with great and impartial views about the game.
It’s no surprise that he has backed Dominik Szoboszlai and has sung the Hungarian’s praises in his latest comments around Liverpool.
Szoboszlai has been a revelation since he arrived at Anfield, although recently he hasn’t quite done as well as he would have liked. But to be fair, the same can be said of the whole Liverpool team.
Nonetheless, Foster has praised the Hungarian for his ‘massive engine’ and for being a ‘perfect’ signing for Jurgen Klopp.
“He is kind of a box to box player, really. Massive engine on him,” Foster said on The Premier League’s official YouTube channel.
“The Hungarian captain, nearly 40 appearances for his country already. He is a typical Jurgen Klopp signing, he just appears on the pitch on a Saturday, does his job incredibly well.
“He hasn’t been particularly prolific this season, in the past he has always scored goals, one in every three or four games.
“For Liverpool it hasn’t quite clicked at that end of the pitch but he has been asked to do a slightly different role, when you have so many attacking players like Liverpool have, it’s not up to him to score the goals but when he’s in front of goals he can be clinical as well.”

In the same interview, Foster also signalled out Szoboszlai’s mental fortitude and described how Klopp did well not only to scout his ability on the pitch, but what he is like off the pitch as well.
“At 23 to be captain of your national team is some going,” Foster said.
“You are usually talking 30 plusses, that’s what you usually get. Jurgen Klopp knows what he is doing, he is not just signing players on a whim, he is finding out about them and their personality and their leadership skills. And again he has signed a perfect fit for Liverpool.”
