Report: Man City looking to sign 'mad' £60m Wolves player and could offer their 23-year-old in deal

Manchester City have reportedly now opened talks with Wolves over a potential deal for Rayan Ait-Nouri – and the Premier League champions have discussed offering one of their players as potential makeweight.

Ait-Nouri has enjoyed a terrific season at Molineux, and has been one of Gary O’Neil‘s top performers so far this season.

He has recently really stepped up to the plate while key players such as Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto have been out injured, playing in a more advanced role.

Ait-Nouri has always dazzled fans with his footwork and dribbling, but this term his defending has been much improved, and O’Neil has had a lot of trust in the player, handing him 32 appearances across all competitions.

O’Neil has worked very hard with him, and Ait-Nouri has made great strides this term, having worked a lot on his fitness and conditioning earlier this season.

His performances have attracted the attention of some big clubs – and now, a bold claim has been made about the interest of one of the big boys…

According to a report from Football Transfers today, Manchester City have now opened talks with Wolves about a possible deal to sign Ait-Nouri.

The Algeria international has been linked with a City a couple of times over the past couple of years, and seemingly the reigning Premier League champions like what they see.

Pep Guardiola obviously loves a technical player and they don’t come much more technical at Wolves than Ait-Nouri. Indeed, Hwang Hee-chan recently admitted he had the best technique and skills in the whole squad.

Dan Bentley has also described Ait-Nouri as ‘one of the best dribblers I’ve ever seen’.

Football Transfers say City and Wolves are talking, and there is a very interesting claim that City have proposed the idea of including Sergio Gomez in a deal.

Left-back Gomez, 23, joined City in the summer of 2022 for around £11 million and has made just 37 appearances for the club so far.

Football Transfers claim Wolves value Ait-Nouri around £60 million.

Wolves should try to keep Ait-Nouri for one more season

This is quite the claim, and one that may worry some fans.

But certainly, if Neto is sold this summer, then supporters would like to hope the chances of Ait-Nouri leaving the club will be much slimmer.

Quite possibly, Wolves are currently sat on one of the most exciting left-backs/left wing-backs in football at the moment.

Ait-Nouri’s ceiling is enormous, and his market value could absolutely sky-rocket in the next year or so.

It would be a great shame if the star – branded a ‘mad’ talent by O’Neil earlier this season – was to leave. For many, Ait-Nouri still has plenty of developing to do at Molineux, and Wolves surely don’t want to sell too early.
