'We hear': Journalist shares whether Crysencio Summerville will leave, if Leeds are promoted

The shape of the summer window remains wide open for Leeds United with plenty up in the air – and most of it depends on what division Leeds will be in come next season, whether we will be promoted.

Leeds currently sit in third in the Championship table with three games to play. Three games without a win has put Daniel Farke’s side on the back foot, losing to both Coventry, and Blackburn on Saturday.

Failure to go up and you can expect a handful of players to be open to a summer exit. The likes of Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier, possibly even Georgi Rutter. A permanent move for Joe Rodon is very unlikely.

But what happens if Leeds go up? Inevitably, there is going to be interest in the likes of Rutter, Meslier and certainly the Championship Player of the SeasonCrysencio Summerville, promotion won or not.

Crysencio Summerville’s stance on move if Leeds are promoted

Summerville, 22, has had a hand in 27 goals this season. That is said to have attracted the attention of Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, as Xabi Alonso guided his side to the title on the weekend.

Promotion or not, a move to Leverkusen will tempt Summerville. So, if Leeds do go up – what is the Elland Road star’s stance on a move in the summer? Ben Jacobs gave an update to website Give Me Sport.

“Summerville’s priority is the Premier League. If that happens, then Summerville, from what I hear, is very committed to Leeds. He is enjoying playing under Daniel Farke and he’s very much ignoring the noise.

“There’s been no concrete approach to Leeds. No talk of valuation. Even though we hear, understandably, a lot about interest, clubs aren’t stupid. They know when is right and wrong to make an approach.”

Who else could be tempted to leave if we don’t go up?

As aforementioned, Meslier was a target for Celta Vigo last summer and after relegation, the Frenchman was quiet on social media while others posted. It suggested as if he was off. That might still be the case.

Clubs will want Meslier after a superb season during 23-24. Pascal Struijk was a target for Club Brugge, but after injury – it is unclear if interest remains. He may be more tempted to stay after becoming captain.

Gnonto was desperate to go and is yet to be confirmed as signing a new deal. He will surely want an exit if we’re in the Championship. Rutter is a fan favorite, but too good for the second tier of English football.

Plenty could be linked and failure to go up will see Summerville consider his options. But, Leeds can still go up even if we fail to get it done in the next three games. That is for the summer, though.
