'I read this stat': Chris Sutton shares why one Liverpool player is the 'worst' in Europe's top 5 right now

Liverpool were beaten by Crystal Palace yesterday and Chris Sutton has expressed his concern over one Liverpool player’s performance.

The Reds missed a number of big chances to put the game to bed but couldn’t find a way past Dean Henderson as Ebere Eze’s goal proved enough to win the game.

For Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp, it was one of those days.

However, the problem for some of Liverpool’s players at the moment is that those days are becoming all too common in the run-in.

Of course, the main culprit on most occasions for Liverpool when it comes to missing big chances is their big striker, Darwin Nunez.

Nunez once again missed a sitter yesterday from around six yards out.

And speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, Chris Sutton shared a worrying stat about Nunez.

Chris Sutton shares worrying stat about Darwin Nunez

Speaking about Nunez and conceding that the striker just isn’t lethal in his finishing, Sutton read out a grim looking stat for Nunez and Liverpool to back up his point.

“There’s no doubt, he’s not lethal. He’s a handful but he’s not lethal. I read this stat last night about him. Darwin Nunez has the worst big chance conversion rate across Europe’s top five leagues.

“You know, you think about that and think of the standard at Man City and Arsenal, you want to win a Premier League, then you have got to take those opportunities,” Sutton said.

Darwin Nunez has to be better

If Liverpool are going to be a consistent threat in winning trophies, then they have to start putting their chances away and they have to start getting Nunez to score more.

The striker has been in England nearly two seasons now and yet we are having the same conversations and pundits making the same observations almost weekly.

Put simply, if you are Liverpool’s number nine, then you just have to be better in front of goal and have to start scoring when it matters.

If Nunez cannot do it, then Liverpool might look elsewhere and with a new manager coming in, there is a chance the Uruguayan comes under pressure to deliver.

Nunez, then, has to show what he can do in the final few weeks of the season.
