I was at Stamford Bridge last night and saw 22-year-old Chelsea man have his best game for the club - opinion

Chelsea finally put together the performance they have been threatening to all season last night against Everton.

The Blues won 6-0 at Stamford Bridge, with Cole Palmer taking all the headlines for his outstanding performance.

The England international scored four goals, leaving him the top scorer in the Premier League alongside Erling Haaland.

On a night where he showed Gareth Southgate why he should well be starting at the Euros this summer, there were a number of other players stepping up to the plate too.

The midfield was lacking Enzo Fernandez last night, leaving the pairing of Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo in the middle.

It was the latter who was really at his best in West London, hardly putting a foot wrong in the thumping victory.

Moises Caicedo has best performance for Chelsea

Known for his ability to recover the ball, this was on display more than ever last night as he won the ball back for his team 13 times, whilst also winning 10 ground duels.

His part in the second goal for the Blues was crucial too, with him delaying the pass just enough to allow Mykhailo Mudryk the perfect opportunity to cut it back for the eventual goal.

The performance will leave some asking if Mauricio Pochettino may have actually stumbled across his best midfield ahead of the crucial FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

Palmer playing in front of the duo had the best inter-play seen between that triangle all season, and will certainly have put a question into his countryman’s mind as to whether he should recall his countryman if he is fit at the weekend.

He will no doubt be buoyed though by seeing the club’s record signing put in a performance better than any he has seen from him for the club so far.
