'Great to see': Jamie Carragher absolutely loved what 20-year-old Chelsea player did vs Everton last night

Chelsea put in arguably their best performance this season last night after beating Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It was once again the Cole Palmer show, with the attacker scoring four goals to make it consecutive home hat-tricks.

His fourth strike against Sean Dyche’s men, a penalty, took his total tally in the Premier League to 20.

It means no one in the division has scored more goals this season than Palmer, not even Erling Haaland, with the Manchester City forward also on 20.

Wesley Fofana took to Instagram after the game to show his admiration for his team-mate.

Jamie Carragher loved what he saw from another Chelsea goalscorer

Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist were Chelsea‘s other goalscorers on the night.

Jackson netted just before the end of the first half, which was his 10th strike of the Premier League season, while Gilchrist fired past Jordan Pickford in the 90th minute.

It was the 20-year-old’s first goal in a Chelsea shirt, and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher loved the scenes that followed.

Speaking about Gilchrist’s celebration on Sky Sports, the former central defender said: “Great to see when you see a local player. You can see how happy he was. It looks like when he was celebrating he was almost looking for his family in the stands to go over and celebrate with them.”

He later went on to add: “You see the celebration, but what I loved was when… he wants to be in the crowd!”

Alfie Gilchrist’s goal versus Everton

Gilchrist’s goal against the Toffees was a perfectly-hit shot after Pickford parried the ball right in front of him.

Chelsea supporters will be hoping to see more of the same from the defender as his career at Stamford Bridge progresses.

He may not actually be at the club next season, however.

It has been reported that Chelsea want to loan out Gilchrist in the summer, which makes perfect sense. It will give him the opportunity to get regular game time and thus help his development.
