Catch a round-up of the latest Tottenham news, including updates on Ollie Watkins, transfers and James Maddison.

Ollie Watkins makes Tottenham claim

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has been discussing Tottenham amid a race between the two clubs for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season. Spurs held the initial advantage, but a 4-0 defeat to Newcastle came as a severe blow.

That wasn’t helped by Villa grabbing a win over the Lilywhites’ north London rivals Arsenal shortly after. Despite that, Watkins believes Ange Postecoglou‘s team are still in the hunt and discussed the upcoming derby day clash between Spurs and Arsenal.

“I think it has been a very similar season to Spurs,” Watkins told Football London. “If they came here [Arsenal] and won nobody would be surprised.

“They play a similar style to us. Some people may be surprised by that result but I’m not. We’ve shown what we can do against the big teams and we deserve to be where we are.”

It made a day to forget for all those involved for Tottenham, with plenty of supporters travelling the length of the country to see the display. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Maddison said: “We weren’t good enough and we have to accept that, look in the mirror and know we weren’t good enough.

“I can only apologise to the fans for the fact that they had to witness that scoreline.”
