‘Wasn’t expecting’: Jamie Carragher shocked at what Mauricio Pochettino did after Chelsea win last night

Pundit Jamie Carragher has now shared what Mauricio Pochettino did after the Chelsea win last night which left him stunned.

He told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football that he was really surprised with the reaction of the manager after the laughable debate over who should take the second half penalty for the Blues.

Chelsea ran out 6-0 winners against Everton last night, with them delivering a performance they had been threatening to do so for some time.

Cole Palmer scores four for Chelsea

Cole Palmer was at his brilliant best yet again at Stamford Bridge, scoring four to make him the top scorer in the Premier League.

He almost saw his fourth taken away from him though, with the penalty he won being discussed while he was on the floor injured.

He eventually pulled rank over Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson to score, with those two teammates in particular clearly not too happy with the situation.

Someone else who wasn’t happy was Pochettino though, who unleashed a scathing rant on the situation after the game.

Jamie Carragher surprised but pleased at Pochettino rant

Carragher responded to this actually pleased that the manager had laid down the law in emphatic fashion.

He said: “I think it’s really interesting his interview. I wasn’t expecting that. I think when we saw the players get interviewed before they tried to downplay the situation. I thought that was the case, everyone had been in the dressing room and the manager had almost given a message let’s try and downplay it, we have had a great win, let’s not let this overshadow it.

“And I don’t think it should by the way, but I think it was really interesting how upset and angry he is at this situation. Because he is probably looking at it thinking that this has been the best night for me as a manager and us as a team and people will be talking about it.

“I was surprised at his reaction but also pleased as well in that it is going to send a really strong message to the players and I don’t think it will happen again.”

The Argentine seemed pretty serious in his comments, and it remains to be seen if they play a part in his thinking when it comes to team selection next time around.

The Blues are now preparing for the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, where they will have the opportunity to put their Wembley hoodoo right against the best team in the world right now.
