‘No’: Ally McCoist tells Manchester United not to bring in former Chelsea man as part of new era

Pundit Ally McCoist has now warned Premier League giants Manchester United not to look to a former Chelsea man as part of the revolution at Old Trafford.

He told TalkSPORT that he doesn’t believe it will be a good look for the Red Devils bringing someone in who is largely seen as a failure during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Chop and change has been clear to see for the Blues in their own new era at the club under Todd Boehly and co.

Already they have seen three permanent managers take the reins, as well as Frank Lampard in an extended temporary spell.

The American made Graham Potter his number one priority to make the boss not long after taking over, however things did not go to plan in his tenure here.

He was sacked in his first campaign at the club, with it seeming at times like a step up too far for the Englishman in his new role.

He has not actually returned to the game since his dismissal a year ago, with him rejecting a number of jobs along the way.

One place he has been linked with landing is Old Trafford, however McCoist has stated that he does not think this would be a good idea for United.

He said: “No, I don’t think he’d be a good fit for that job. I think he’ll need to go somewhere else first after the disappointment at Chelsea.

“I don’t think he’ll come into the running for United because I don’t think it’s a good look for them taking a manager who’s been sacked at Chelsea.”

The managerial situation at Chelsea is about as unsecure as Erik ten Hag’s status, with Mauricio Pochettino by no means assured his place at the club for the future.

Supporters do not seem to be invested in the Argentine at all, and Potter’s stock will perhaps have increased solely because things have not really improved at Stamford Bridge since his dismissal, with some wondering why Pochettino has not faced the same fate.
