'I'm told': Sky Sports journalist has just dropped Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update this morning

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has just shared the latest on Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton future.

The 21-year-old’s superb 2023/24 campaign has drawn attention from further afield, and due to the Toffees’ financial situation,a departure cannot be ruled out.

Manchester United have been consistently linked with the Cumbrian-born defender. The Mirror reported that the Premier League giants have even made Branthwaite their number one target, despite the £75million price tag.

Everton’s league status will no doubt play a part in his future, but he remains an integral part of Dyche’s plans for now.

Plettenberg, who covers European transfers for Sky Sports, has now shared the latest on Manchester United’s interest.

Taking to X, he wrote: “Yes, the 21 y/o from Everton is on the list of Manchester United and being scouted. Among many other candidates, a new centre-back is definitely supposed to come.

“However, I’m told that he’s not currently a top target. Especially not for the rumoured price of around €93m.”

£79million is an exceptionally large figure, but ultimately, it is what Branthwaite is worth to Everton now. His performances alongside James Tarkowski have been the cornerstone of any success at Goodison Park this season.

What is the injury latest on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite?

Branthwaite was forced off during the second half of Everton’s Premier League loss to Chelsea on Monday evening.

It was a night to forget for Dyche’s men. Cole Palmer was in immaculate form to fire Mauricio Pochettino’s men to an emphatic 6-0 victory. It’s one for the Toffees to put quickly behind them ahead of two huge matches against Nottingham Forest and Luton Town.

Talking after the game, Dyche shared the latest on Branthwaite. “Jarrad, we hope, is minor, but we have to wait and see,” he explained.

“Shay (Coleman) has pulled his groin, we don’t know yet and Patto’s looks a bit more serious. A hamstring injury, we are going to have to wait and see – let it settle tomorrow.”
