'Remember that name': Ian Wright says 20-year-old talent Arsenal want to sign is just 'awesome'

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has heaped praise on a young player the Gunners are reportedly interested in signing this summer.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have had a tremendous 2024, but their defeat against Aston Villa last weekend showed they still have a long way to go before they can reach Manchester City’s level.

The focus for Arsenal will be on the pitch now, but we’re sure Edu Gaspar is already working on new signings for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of names in recent months, and Wright has heaped praise on one of them after what he did at the weekend.

Ian Wright says Arsenal target is ‘awesome’

Arsenal are in a position now where they can attract the best players in the world.

The Gunners showed how attractive they are when they convinced Declan Rice to snub Manchester City and move to the Emirates last summer.

Arsenal are up there with the best clubs in Europe right now, and with Mikel Arteta at the helm, they will back themselves to get most deals over the line.

The North Londoners could do with reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch this summer.

A new striker will be very important, while additions on the wings, in midfield and also at left-back are said to be on the agenda.

Among all the names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz. Arsenal are said to be one of the clubs monitoring his situation ahead of this summer.

The 20-year-old German has had an amazing season in the Bundesliga. He scored his first senior hat-trick at the weekend to help Leverkusen clinch their first-ever title.

Ian Wright appears to be a big fan of Wirtz. He has urged everyone to remember the youngster’s name ahead of the Euros in Germany this summer.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House yesterday, the Arsenal legend said: “Oh my God. Florian Wirtz, remember that name for the Euros. Remember that name because if Germany get going, they’re cooking up Michelin star stuff, I’m telling you.

“Bro, he is awesome!”

Florian Wirtz’s stats this season are ridiculous

Bayer Leverkusen have ended Bayern Munich‘s domination in Germany this season, and Xabi Alonso deserves enormous praise.

The Spaniard has worked wonders at the BayArena over the last eight months, and his side has been among the best in Europe so far.

Leverkusen’s standout player this season has to be Florian Wirtz. The 20-year-old is a genuine superstar in the making – he is a magician.

In 41 games in all competitions this season, Wirtz has scored 17 goals and provided 18 assists in all competitions. That is an outrageous return for someone who is still just 20 years old.

Leverkusen will not want to lose Wirtz, but the German will definitely end up at a massive club – either this summer or at some point in the future.
