Official West Ham X account posts tone deaf tweet that Hammers fans really won't appreciate

Things aren’t going great for West Ham United right now, but the official X account admin clearly haven’t got the memo.

West Ham have won just four out of our last 20 games in all competitions, and David Moyes is under real pressure.

The Hammers lost 2-0 at home to Fulham on Sunday, but this time Moyes’s excuse of the quick turnaround from Thursday night just didn’t wash with the fans.

The mood in the camp right now is not great to say the least. The fans are fed up, and the majority are desperate to see a more expansive, attacking playing style.

Given the current situation at West Ham, you would think that the club’s official X account would be fully aware of the tension at the London Stadium.

However, that’s clearly not the case judging by one of their posts this afternoon…

Official West Ham X account posts tone deaf tweet

The last thing that any Hammers fan wants to see right now is one of our former players who did absolutely nothing for us getting recognition on the West Ham X account, formerly known as Twitter.

We have had plenty of mercenaries who used us for nothing more than the money come and go throughout the years.

And now one of them has been congratulated by our official X account after he turned 47 today…

Freddie Ljungberg has to go down as one of the worst signings West Ham have ever made.

He spent just one season with us after signing for around £3 million back in 2007, making 28 appearances in total (Transfermarkt).

And the official Hammers X account posted the below message, wishing Freddie a happy birthday:

Talk about tone deaf! He was an overpaid mercenary who didn’t really care about West Ham.

I would go as far as saying that he stole a wage from us during his time with the Hammers.

At a time when we’re struggling so badly on the pitch, I’m not sure that posting a happy birthday message to Ljungberg was the wisest thing to do really.

I would have understood it if the Swede was a Hammers legend who enjoyed a glittering career with us.

The West Ham X admin just baffle me at times.
