'No one can': Trent Alexander-Arnold says Man City can do something that no other team can

Trent Alexander-Arnold has claimed that Manchester City can do one thing that no other team can.

The Liverpool right-back knows first-hand how brilliant City are as a team.

Of course, the Englishman has faced Manchester City on two occasions this season in end-to-end encounters.

But over the years, Alexander-Arnold has witnessed City’s evolution during title races and the two clubs’ meetings.

From the all-out attack approach that typified the ‘Centurions’ team right up till facing the side after the campaign they won the treble.

As a result, in some ways, the 25-year-old knows the ins and outs of how Pep Guardiola’s men play football, unlike most players in the Premier League.

Trent Alexander-Arnold says City can do something “no one can”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has played a crucial role in games where Liverpool have beaten Manchester City.

With that in mind, Alexander-Arnold has witnessed what City’s frailties have been over the years.

Whether that be in terms of when they face a certain style of player or specific players’ mentalities.

Similarly, Trent Alexander-Arnold has also witnessed his Liverpool team get dominated by City.

As a result, the versatile defender is aware of the strengths City possess.

Before the season began, the Champions League winner admitted that for the Reds to beat the Sky Blues to a Premier League title, they would have to be “near-perfect.”

Currently, Liverpool are two points behind City in the league table, having dropped points in back-to-back games as they drew 2-2 to Manchester United and lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

Now, Trent Alexander-Arnold has explained that the way Manchester City can pass their way around teams to create chances and score goals is unlike any other team.

“Our whole game is based on counter-press. So, the way that we get told to play is it’s good up there to risk the ball because at times, not that we’re told to lose it but it’s not a bad thing to lose it because then they open their shape up”, he said on The Overlap.

“They start to think, let’s counter-attack, we win it back quick and then that’s when we kill them. So, it might not always be like the Man City way where they tiki-taka and break you down. No one can really do it like them.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold is correct

As Trent Alexander-Arnold stated, Liverpool attack teams in a much riskier manner than Manchester City do.

Jurgen Klopp’s side seemingly embrace chaos in games and tend to throw the kitchen sink during matches from the get-go.

Manchester City, on the other hand, are far more methodical in comparison to the Merseyside-based club.

As a result, City aim to drag opposition players out of positions to exploit their gaps in defence and midfield and create chances; a quality not many, if any team even has in Europe.

The Sky Blues’ attacking mantra is more balanced in terms of how much they prioritise risk and safety as opposed to Liverpool.

As a result, Trent Alexander-Arnold does make a fair point about how Manchester City attack.
