‘Yes’: Journalist says he genuinely thinks ‘brilliant’ manager will take the Liverpool job now

Liverpool’s search for a new manager is proving to be rather complicated.

The Reds are going all around the houses in their search for a new gaffer, but the main name in the headlines in recent weeks has been Ruben Amorim.

Indeed, while the Sporting boss may not be the biggest name in the game, he’s certainly someone of interest to Liverpool, and now, he’s been tipped to take the job by one of the most notable journalists in England.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Darren Lewis has been discussing Amorim and Liverpool, and he says that he does expect Amorim to come to Anfield this summer.

Ruben Amorim expected to take Liverpool job

Lewis spoke about the Sporting gaffer.

“I think that although he’s not been formally offered the job, we know how football works. There will have been someone who has spoken to him, set out the requirements at Liverpool and agreed a package with him. There will be a confidence around whether or not he is prepared to join or not, just nothing formal at this stage. So, do I think he’s going to go there? Yes. I did hear a shout from another outlet for Ange Postecoglou, but I don’t think Liverpool would want the drama,” Lewis said.

Ruben Amorim will be interesting at Liverpool

We’d be very intrigued to see how Amorim gets on at Liverpool.

The Portuguese coach has worked wonders over in Portugal, and if he can carry that over to English football, Liverpool may continue to sweep up silverware in the coming years.

However, that being said, the Premier League and the Portuguese league are completely different animals, and there’s no guarantee that success over in Portugal will translate to success in the Premier League.

This would be a very interesting direction for the Reds to go in, that’s for sure.
