'Unbelievable': Eddie Howe says Newcastle have a 'rare' talent who could become a footballing legend

Eddie Howe believes that Newcastle United have a player with a rare talent in their ranks, and insists that there is no limit to what he could achieve in the future.

Newcastle are approaching the end of the season in a positive run of form.

The Magpies have endured a turbulent campaign, losing six in seven league games around the turn of the year.

But they have now won four of their last six in the top-flight. And one player, in particular, has been absolutely outstanding during that run.

Alexander Isak continues to catch the eye for Newcastle. And the Swede has now scored seven goals in his last six appearances for the Magpies.

Unfortunately, he has struggled with a few injuries during his time on Tyneside. However, when he has been out on the pitch, he has been superb; boasting a record of better than a goal every two games for Newcastle.

And speaking to Optus Sport, Eddie Howe told Michael Bridges that Isak’s performances are a clear indicator of just how much potential the forward has.

“He’s an unbelievable talent, quite a rare talent with the skill set he has. He can do a little bit of everything,” he said.

“He’s quick, he’s got unbelievable feet, really good finisher. Works hard off the ball, tactically very good. I don’t think there’s a limit on what he can achieve in the future.

“I think he’s set to have a really good phase of his career here at Newcastle. And he could go down as one of the legendary strikers in my opinion.”

Magpies star has silenced all doubters from earlier in his career

There have been question marks over Isak down the years. The 24-year-old was one of those players being tipped for stardom when he was emerging in Sweden.

And many would have been optimistic that joining Borussia Dortmund would prove to be exactly the right move for his career.

However, his time in Germany was a disappointment. And actually, many forget that he only scored six league goals in 32 games in his final season with Real Sociedad before he joined Newcastle.

So it was a gamble for the Magpies to break their transfer record to sign Isak.

But that decision is proving to be absolutely inspired. As things stand, Isak is either going to earn Newcastle a huge profit in the future, or he is going to establish himself as the next great striker in the club’s history.

Howe is clearly hoping it is the latter.
