‘There’s every chance’: Pundit reckons Arsenal could beat Bayern Munich because of £4m player

Arsenal face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, and it’s fair to say that the Gunners head into this game as underdogs.

Indeed, while Arsenal are a very strong side, going away in Europe is never easy, especially against a team as strong as Bayern Munich.

However, as this season has shown, Bayern can be vulnerable at times, hence why they’ve not won the league title, and if Arsenal can exploit some of those vulnerabilities, they could get some joy.

Speaking on the RTE Soccer Podcast, Keith Treacy has been previewing this game, and he reckons Arsenal have every chance of beating Bayern because of one player in particular.

Why Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich

Treacy reckons that Arsenal can beat Bayern because of the presence of Eric Dier at the back, claiming that the £4m man is bound to make a mistake in this game.

“We’re getting stronger, we’re not getting stagnant. A lot of our players are decent ages. I’m happy, and with Eric Dier playing in that Bayern Munich back four there’s every chance he will make a mistake and we’ll be able to do something,” Treacy said.

Bayern Munich’s weakness

Treacy is right in a lot of ways here.

If Arsenal are to beat Bayern Munich, they need to exploit their big weaknesses, and it’s fair to say that Dier is one of the German club’s weaker players.

We saw for years in the Premier League that Dier is prone to these silly errors, but, at the same time, he can be very solid and there’s a reason Bayern did sign him.

The £4m man will be up for this game as well against his old enemy after so many years at Tottenham, but if Arsenal can get at Dier, perhaps he will make the vital mistake that costs his team in this crunch tie.
