Dietician recommends easy trick to make eating veggies more interesting

Eating a diet rich in vegetables is important to ensure we get all the nutrients our body needs, but they aren’t the most interesting thing to eat.

Most people would choose a cheeseburger over a salad any day, but eating vegetables doesn’t have to be boring.

Simple trick to get your veggies in

Kylie Sakaida, a registered dietician, has gone viral on TikTok after revealing a simple way to get all your veggies in without even realising it

“As a dietician one of the most common things I hear is that people don’t like vegetables and honestly I totally get it, which is why I always recommend preparing them in different ways,” she said.

She then chopped up cabbage, cucumber, broccoli and avocado and turned the green vegetables into a healthy dip for chips!

Sakaida added chickpeas, pumpkin seeds and Green Goddess dressing, and shook the whole thing up, before sprinkling over some chives.

She called the recipe a Green Goddess Chopped Salad Box Dip, and said it’s a great way to get all the same fiber, nutrients and fats into your body.

“Sometimes having it chopped that small and eating it with a chip can make it easier and more fun to eat,” she said. “So easy and so good.”

Importance of good nutrition

Good nutrition is important to keep people healthy throughout their lives, from babies right up to older adults, MedlinePlus explains. Eating healthily can help people live longer and lower their risk of health problems like heart disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Good nutrition is about regularly choosing healthy foods and beverages that will give your body the energy and nutrients that you need every day, including proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water.

You don’t have to follow a very strict diet all the time and can still enjoy less healthy favorites, but it’s important not to eat too much of those foods or have them too often. Balance unhealthy options with healthier foods and regular exercise.

MedlinePlus recommends eating a variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain products, as well as lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, and low-fat dairy products. You should also get enough fiber and drink lots of water.

A healthy eating plan is one that limits salt, added sugars, alcohol and saturated fat, and is rich in nutrients, including calcium, Vitamin D and potassium.
