£11m Bayer Leverkusen star spotted wearing Aston Villa shirt after Bundesliga title win

One of Bayer Leverkusen’s star players was spotted wearing an Aston Villa shirt in the aftermath of his side’s Bundesliga title win.

Xabi Alonso’s men secured the league title thanks to a 5-0 home win over Werder Bremen on Saturday, sparking jubilant scenes at the BayArena.

Leverkusen are looking to complete an invincible season, having not lost a single league game to date and toppling Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich in the process.

Aston Villa are relatively familiar with the Bundesliga champions. Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby played for Leverkusen before completing their moves to Villa Park.

One player who has caught the eye this season is Jeremie Frimpong. The 23-year-old signed for the club in 2021 for £11million after coming through the ranks at Celtic.

The Dutchman has thrived in Alonso’s system. The Spaniard gives his full-backs license to get forward, one of Frimpong’s strengths.

As a result, the 23-year-old has netted eight goals and registered seven assists in 24 Bundesliga starts this season.

Frimpong was at the heart of celebrations after the title triumph and was spotted wearing a very interesting kit.

Per footage from AVFC Faithful, the former Celtic ace was donning Villa’s famous claret and blue kit on Tuesday evening; clearly, he has excellent taste.

Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby leave lasting impression Bayer Levekusen

Perhaps Diaby and Bailey are still well-thought-of at the BayArena. The duo were immense during their time in Germany and caught the eye of many a club across Europe.

Villa fans could even get excited after seeing the 23-year-old in their famous strip. According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the Villans want to land the jet-heeled right wing-back.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Jeremie Frimpong is the one that I think is the most genuine from what I’m told. Leverkusen aren’t particularly keen to sell him in this window. But if that was to change, I think that they would certainly be part of the conversation.”

Frimpong would provide Villa with an option they don’t currently have. Matty Cash is dependable but certainly not as forward-thinking. This could well be something to keep an eye on.
