'The narrative has swung': ESPN pundit changes mind over who will go through - Arsenal or Bayern Munich

Tonight is the night. Arsenal go to Germany to take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, after the two sides played out an enthralling 2-2 draw in the first leg.

Last week, Bukayo Saka’s opener was cancelled out by Leroy Sane’s equaliser and Harry Kane scored a penalty. But, Leandro Trossard came off the bench to score the goal of the night, Gabriel Jesus assist.

With Bayern suffering a handful of injuries since that clash – Kinsgley Coman and Serge Gnabry both unavailable, while Alphonso Davies is suspended – and Arsenal losing against Villa, it is an intriguing tie.

Bayern have been poor all season, losing the title to Bayer Leverkusen. But, the Champions League is their last hope of winning some silverware and that could be the winning mentality come Wednesday night.

Craig Burley changes his mind in Arsenal-Bayern prediction

They have home advantage and Arsenal’s nemesis, in Harry Kane. One more goal for Kane will see him become the record goalscorer against The Gunners. He is currently level with Wayne Rooney on 15 goals.

It is an incredible tie, on the same night that Manchester City take on Real Madrid. On ESPN FC, Craig Burley predicted a win for Arsenal on Wednesday night – having previously predicted Bayern to win.

“I did go Bayern, the narrative has sort of swung a little bit. The weekend it swung again. [Those injuries] have swung me back to Arsenal, even though Arsenal had a terrible result against Aston Villa,” he said.

“They did not play well against Bayern. Have Bayern been great at home? No. Arsenal will need to play better. I’m not super confident, but those injuries – even if a couple play – I’ve just gone for Arsenal.”

Luis Garcia predicts Arsenal to lose to Bayern Munich tonight

Unlike Burley, though, former Liverpool man Garcia has predicted Bayern to get the job done against Arsenal tonight. He believes that Arsenal’s lack of experience at this stage will play against The Gunners.

“They have a little bit of experience but not enough to deal with these kind of moments. Bayern, they’ve been there many times. This is their last chance to make a good season, last opportunity,” he told ESPN.

It is a difficult one to predict. Arsenal are a better side, but they lost to Villa. Bayern have home advantage and experience, but injuries and have had a poor season. It could be whoever turns up on the night.
