‘Incredible’: Neal Maupay says he’d now ‘love’ to see Everton’s Dele Alli do one thing after MNF appearance

Although Monday night saw Everton get dismantled by Chelsea, it was Dele Alli who stole the headlines.

After all, his analysis was fair and insightful throughout the programme, as he opened up on his journey up the English football pyramid to the top of the sport, and his subsequent stumble and the struggles that followed.

He has been supremely brave and open across the last 12 months, throughout which he has constantly suffered unrelenting injury setbacks.

Well, now a fellow Everton player, albeit on loan to Brentford, has sought to offer his support for the Englishman.

Neal Maupay sends heartfelt message to Dele Alli

Taking to X, the former Brighton and Hove Albion man was surprisingly heartfelt in his message to Dele.

After all, Maupay has almost always stolen headlines for his unsavoury antics, whether it be winding up players and opposition fans, or just causing general mayhem.

But, with this tweet, he showcased his softer side, which we also saw briefly when reminiscing about his one-year stint with Everton. Although, that was capped off with a slight dig at the Evertonians…

Regardless, just yesterday he wrote: ‘After everything Dele has been through, I would love to see him return to the top of his game. There is an incredible player in there. He seems in a much better place mentally which is great to see. Wish only the best for my guy.’

Considering the two have never shared the pitch together, there are suggestions of a pretty strong relationship there. That, or just a huge amount of professional respect for someone who has been through hell and back, but now seems to have come out the better side of it.

Dele Alli’s future could lie away from Everton

Unfortunately for Everton, their gamble in taking Dele from Tottenham Hotspur was not one that paid off.

Aside from his half-time substitute appearance against Crystal Palace back in 2022, in which his presence changed the game and inspired the side to come from two goals down, there has been little else to report on for his spell in Merseyside.

Other than fresh injury setbacks.

He has been desperately unlucky, but did reveal on the show that he finally thinks he is returning to a level where he can shine again.

This has even sparked aspirations of making the England World Cup squad in 2026.

However, he might have to make his mark elsewhere, with his contract due to expire this summer.

Everton simply don’t have the funds to be able to accommodate such a high-earner, but this fanbase will now watch the rest of his career with interest and well wishes.
