Histon score five goals without reply during United Counties League Premier Division South victory over Cogenhoe United

Five continues to be the number closely associated with Histon after last weekend’s home clash against Cogenhoe United.

After running out 5-1 winners at Godmanchester on Easter Monday, the roles were reversed when Chris Nunn’s men went down by the same scoreline at Leicester Nirvana on 6 April.

However, the Stutes bounced back in emphatic fashion at the weekend with a 5-0 win at the expense of visiting Cogenhoe.

Striker Matt Hayden broke the deadlock early on at Bridge Road before the lead was doubled by defender Jake Kerins.

A goalkeeper error saw Joe Sutton add a third goal and it was 4-0 before the break thanks to captain Max York, who marked his 300th appearance for the club in style.

The away side carved out some chances in the second half, yet it was Histon that completed the scoring when winger Danny Gould lobbed the ball into the net.

And the winning margin would have been even greater had substitute Babacar Camara not seen his effort cannon back off the post.

The victory moved Histon up to 10th position in the table and they will finish in ninth spot if they come out on top in their final game of the season away at Easington Sports on Saturday (20 April).

Goals from Hayden and Kerins earned Histon a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture between the two sides in late February.
