Cambridge City record a much needed clean sheet during trip to Shepshed Dynamo

Victory over visiting Hinckley LRFC on Saturday (20 April) will secure Cambridge City’s Step 4 status for another season.

The Lilywhites would have completed the job last weekend with a win at Shepshed Dynamo, but they had to settle for a 0-0 draw from their trip to Leicestershire.

Nevertheless, having conceded 16 goals in their last four outings, City boss Robbie Nightingale was content with the point.

He told the club’s website: “I thought it was a good point considering the run we’ve been on of late and the goals we’ve conceded. Defensively we were very good.

“We caused them lots and lots of problems, we just needed that little bit of extra quality in the final third. That cost us in the end. We probably had the best chances of the game.

“But that said, considering we’d conceded 16 in the last four games, it was a great team performance and there’s something to build on.”

After hosting Hinckley, City will take on Wisbech Town in the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup final on Tuesday (23 April).
