'I can't believe that': Ally McCoist stunned by what Leandro Trossard did in injury time last night

Ally McCoist has now admitted how baffled he was by something Leandro Trossard did in the 92nd minute for Arsenal last night.

Despite going toe-to-toe with Bayern Munich over the two legs, Mikel Arteta ultimately watched his side come up short.

Whether it was down to Champions League experience or the lack of a ruthless goalscorer up top, Arsenal eventually deserved to bow out of the competition – beaten by a better rounded side.

Of course, it’s difficult to accept that reality in a season in which Bayern have been so poor domestically, and Thomas Tuchel is set to be let go.

Arsenal are supposed to be at their highest point under Mikel Arteta right now, but games like these do bring a different challenge.

Although many may claim otherwise, it didn’t feel as if the Arsenal boss got his team selection wrong on this occasion, he was just beaten by the fine margins.

And that being said, Leandro Trossard’s decision making in the final few moments last night left a lot to be desired.

Ally McCoist couldn’t believe that Leandro Trossard didn’t deliver the ball late on for Arsenal

Ally McCoist was watching the final few moments of the game for TNT Sports and was baffled by Trossards decision not to cross the ball in injury time.

Arsenal had several players in the box and to McCoist’s surprise, Trossard passed up the opportunity to test the Bayern defence.

McCoist observed: “I can’t believe that. I cannot believe that from Arsenal.

“You play it wide to Trossard, fine. But you have to get the ball into the box. Once you put the big lads up, put it in.

“If Declan Rice doesn’t put it in, okay he gives it to Trossard, he has to put it in. That could be the last opportunity!”

Of course, this is just a small microcosm of the naivety Arsenal showed at different times across the two ties.

There were some strong performances in an Arsenal shirt, Arsenal fans were particularly impressed with Takehiro Tomiyasu at times, but it just didn’t all come together.

That being said, the Gunners will now need to react against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday night.

And all Mikel Arteta and his team can do now is attempt to win their remaining six games.
