Tottenham haven’t been in the best form as of late, but we mustn’t forget just how good the north London club have been at times during this campaign.
Indeed, during the opening 10 weeks of the season before injuries, fatigue and suspensions took hold, Spurs were genuinely the best team in the country.
A number of Tottenham’s key players have faltered since then, but there are a few who have been fantastic all season long.
Speaking on his podcast, Eamon Dunphy has been full of praise for one Tottenham player in particular.

Dunphy spoke highly of Micky Van de Ven, claiming that he’s the best centre-half he’s seen for a long time.
“This fellas Van de Ven they have at centre-half, I think he’s brilliant, the best centre-half I’ve seen for a long time, a new guy playing for Spurs, he’s quick, good feet, but he slipped twice,” Dunphy said.

It’s hard to disagree with Dunphy here.
Van de Ven has it all as a defender.
He’s probably not the best centre-back we’ve seen in a long time. After all, there are some fantastic defenders who’ve come through in recent years such as William Saliba, but he’s right up there with the best.
The Dutchman is genuinely a gamechanger for Tottenham. His pace allows Spurs to play with their ridiculously high line, and while he was embarrassed on more than one occasion against Newcastle this weekend, that was a rare slip-up in what has been a stellar debut season for the Dutchman.
Van de Ven may well be one of the signings of the season at just £35m, and while Tottenham haven’t been at their best as of late, they can reflect on this signing as a huge positive.
