Eric Dier issues cheeky Arsenal dig after Bayern Munich progress in the Champions League

Eric Dier has issued a cheeky dig at Arsenal after knocking Tottenham Hotspur’s rivals out of the Champions League last night.

It was a night to remember for both Eric Dier and Harry Kane as Bayern Munich were able to dump the Gunners out of Europe.

After drawing 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium last week, Bayern were able to seal their spot in the semi finals with a 1-0 victory last night.

Kane was not able to get on the scoresheet this time around, however, it was a reported Tottenham target that did the job.

Joshua Kimmich’s goal proved the difference maker in Munich as Bayern will now prepare to face Real Madrid in the final four of the competition.

And it is apparent the centre-back – who is set to leave Spurs permanently in the summer – enjoyed getting one over his north London rivals.

What Eric Dier said after Bayern eliminated Arsenal from the Champions League

It has been an impressive switch to the Bundesliga for Dier since he departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.

All Bayern fans will have known what they would have been getting with the signing of Kane.

However, Dier has arrived at the Allianz Arena and really made that spot at centre-back his own.

The Englishman has already racked up over 1000 minutes of football across the Bundesliga and Champions League.

He is even keeping Kim Min-jae out of the starting XI at the moment.

Perhaps his time as a child developing in Portugal with Sporting CP had played into his hands as he has clearly settled in very quickly.

Although Dier is set to leave Spurs permanently in the coming weeks, it is apparent he still very much enjoyed compiling the misery on the Gunners.

Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, Dier had a message to the onwatching Arsenal fans after being asked if the fixture provided any extra incentive to win.

“Yeah it was nice. Yes, yeah it was nice. Yeah, it was nice,” Dier replied with a broad smirk on his face.

“It was nice to knock them out to be honest.”

Ange Postecoglou hit back after Dier’s recent comments on Tottenham

Although Dier clearly has a lot of love still for the white half of north London, it seems some of his recent comments have not gone down too well with Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian’s training sessions were described as not having much tactical work by Dier in a recent interview with Gary Neville.

Something which Postecoglou was quick to respond to when asked about it in a recent press conference.

“Everything we do is geared on how we are going to play our football, so for me by extension is tactical work. Whether that’s on us, or whether it’s on the opposition. In fact I would probably say we don’t do anything apart from tactical work,” the 58-year-old replied.

“That’s all we do every day. If we’re working on our fitness, we’re still trying to play our football, but I haven’t seen the interview so I’m not sure what he’s referencing.

“If you’re talking about do we do training where we’re standing around and working on how we’re going to stop an opposition, how we’re going to break down, no we don’t do that.”
