Reporter claims Tottenham scouting 'amazing' defender despite Postecoglou doubts

Tottenham Hotspur snapped up another centre back in January but appear to be in the market for one more addition in that area this summer.

Tottenham simply couldn’t carry on with just Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as their centre back options.

The period where Romero was suspended and Van de Ven suffered an injury was difficult to watch.

Romero and Van de Ven are quite the pairing when they are at their best, though Saturday’s defeat at Newcastle United was a horror show for both.

Tottenham added cover in January as Radu Dragusin snubbed Bayern Munich and picked a move to North London.

We have yet to really see the Romanian in action since his move from Genoa but Tottenham will be looking to see him develop over the coming years.

Another defender may be wanted this summer though and we are starting to see plenty of rumours towards

Tottenham eyeing Max Kilman

Reports in recent days have linked Tottenham with a couple of Premier League defenders.

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly are both believed to be on the Tottenham radar.

The pair are both out of contract this summer and Tottenham appear to be keen on free transfers for the pair.

Another name is in the mix though and this one would set Tottenham back a penny or two.

Reporter Ben Jacobs has told The United Stand that Tottenham have joined Manchester United in scouting Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman.

“I know that Manchester United have scouted him, Tottenham are looking at Kilman as well and with Wolves’ financial situation, there might be a window of opportunity there,” he added.

Kilman is a natural left footer and may be seen as competition for Van de Ven, but Spurs would have to cough up a decent fee for a player not guaranteed to play regularly.

Adarabioyo and Kelly make more sense for that reason, but Kilman has impressed in the Premier League and at least deserves to be analysed.

Postecoglou previously unsure about Kilman

Kilman is a former futsal player who featured in the Fulham and Gillingham ranks before dropping into non-league.

The 26-year-old has worked his way up to a Premier League regular and has now racked up nearly 150 appearances for Wolves.

Hailed as ‘amazing’ by Wolves teammate Jose Sa, Kilman has caught the eye in the Premier League but Ange Postecoglou may need some convincing.

Speaking on A View From The Lane last summer, reporter Tim Spiers noted that Tottenham’s recruitment team were ‘hot’ on bringing Kilman to Spurs.

However, Postecoglou was allegedly not quite as interested, preferring the speed of Van de Ven.

It would be a surprise to see Postecoglou change his mind this summer but Tottenham’s scouts appear to still be on Kilman’s case ahead of the transfer window.
