Report: Champions League semi-finalist could replace David Moyes at West Ham, 'genius' is keen on move

David Moyes’ future at West Ham United continues to come under the microscope with the Hammers gaffer out of contract at the end of the season – and replacements are being lined up by the board.

For some time now, Moyes‘ future has been in question with large portions of the Hammers support wanting the Scottish gaffer gone. His negative approach and tactics are not exciting the West Ham crowd.

But, Hammers fans are also aware that last season, Moyes guided the London club to the Conference League title. This season, they remain in the running for European qualification, sitting in eighth place.

The experienced Scotsman has now clocked up 256 games as Hammers manager. TalkSPORT say a deal, an extension on his current contract is on the table – and has been since December. But it is unsigned.

West Ham eye ambitious move for Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel

With the Hammers board aware of some fans wanting him out, and the fact he is two months away from the end of his current deal, sporting director Tim Steidten has drawn up a shortlist of replacements.

One of them is Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, who has just guided his side into the Champions League semi-finals with a win over Arsenal. But, Tuchel will be leaving in the summer after a poor season.

Indeed, Bayern have lost the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years – Bayer Leverkusen remaining unbeaten in all competitions. Of course, West Ham play host to Leverkusen on Thursday night in Europe.

The report from TalkSPORT claims that Tuchel will want to find a new job this summer and a return to English football. Whether that is with West Ham remains to be seen, but they are keen on the “genius”.

Dean Ashton thinks Englishman may replace Moyes at West Ham

There are going to be plenty of managers linked with the Hammers job this summer. A club in a great position, good core, pushing for Europe and financially stable. Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna has been linked.

But Dean Ashton, a former West Ham and England striker, believes Graham Potter – out of work since getting the sack at Chelsea – could be the man to come in, should Moyes end up going. A solid choice.

Potter worked wonders at Brighton and was perhaps thrust into a near-impossible job at Chelsea, with a whole new squad that required time to gel. He has also been linked with Manchester United, this summer.
