21-year-old Spurs talent enjoying superb season as Tottenham crunch time imminent

Tottenham Hotspur are building quite the team for the future having focused on signing top young talents under Ange Postecoglou.

Since Postecoglou’s arrival last summer, we have seen a handful of exciting prospects commit their futures to Tottenham.

Ashley Phillips joined the club from Blackburn Rovers last summer before Hajduk Split wonderkid Luka Vuskovic agreed to join Tottenham in 2025.

Tottenham have followed that up by hijacking Barcelona’s move for Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall with the Djurgarden talent arriving this summer.

Add in first-team talents with big futures, such as Destiny Udogie, Radu Dragusin, Pape Matar Sarr and Micky van de Ven and it looks like Tottenham are building a team for the future.

Prospects such Alfie Dorrington, Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore have real hype behind them too, and one prospect is doing all he can to impress Postecoglou.

Yago Santiago shining this season

Spanish winger Yago Santiago joined Tottenham back in the summer of 2019 having shown promise in the Celta Vigo ranks.

We are yet to see Santiago in first-team action for Tottenham, though he was on the bench against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.

Santiago has been a key man in Tottenham’s impressive Premier League 2 campaign though, and his numbers look very encouraging.

Santiago has featured 15 times in Premier League 2 this season, racking up eight goals and seven assists in the process.

That is an average of a goal contribution in every single game and he has been making a huge impact this season.

Santiago started the season with four goals in his first two games and has now racked up three assists in his last four outings.

Seven goals and two assists in 26 Premier League 2 games last season was a decent return, but Santiago has stepped it up this term and has taken a big leap forward in his development.

Santiago reaching crunch time

Santiago turned 21 just a few days ago and it’s fair to say that he is now reaching crunch time in his Tottenham career.

We are approaching five years since Santiago joined Tottenham and first-team chances have been difficult to come by.

Santiago really needed to show some development this season with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

The Spaniard has stepped up and is now giving Postecoglou something to think about over pre-season.

Taking his chance in Premier League 2 is all Santiago can do and, having done that, he will hope for chances over the summer.

If they don’t come, few could blame Santiago for looking at a potential move away from Tottenham as he heads into the final year of his deal.
