Report: West Ham want 6ft 4in striker Simeone may be forced to sell

West Ham want to sign 6ft 4in Spanish striker Samu Omorodion and Diego Simeone may be forced to sell him.

West Ham cannot put off signing at least one new striker this summer.

The Hammers already have the joint smallest and second oldest squad in the Premier League.

Six of the current West Ham first team squad are also out of contract this summer.

Michail Antonio turns 35 next season while Danny Ings’ face simply doesn’t fit under David Moyes.

West Ham did not replace Gianluca Scamacca and the reality facing Tim Steidten is that he must find at least one if not two new forwards in the summer window.

Steidten’s striker search begins

The last thing the Hammers need is a big name player who has seen better days.

West Ham have been there, done that and got the t-shirt with Ings the latest case in point.

What the club dearly needs is young, hungry, powerful, quick stars who can excel in the Premier League but won’t necessarily cost the earth.

Thankfully for West Ham Steidten is a man very much with a plan it seems.

The transfer rumour mill is already whirring ahead of the summer.

And a new report claims West Ham want 6ft 4in Spanish striker Samu Omorodion.

Hammers set sight on 6ft 4in Spanish star

The good news for the Hammers is that Diego Simeone may be forced to sell him.

Omorodion was signed by Atletico Madrid from Granada last summer. But he was immediately loaned out to Alaves, where he has scored eight goals in 26 appearances this season.

Mundo Deportivo recently reported Atletico are facing “massive financial troubles” after losing their main sponsor.

And the Spanish giants also have their huge new stadium to pay off.

That could play into West Ham’s hands it seems in their pursuit of the 19-year-old Spain Under 21 international.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has told HITC that West Ham are rivalling Wolves and Brighton for Omorodion.

The transfer insider says that although Atletico are very happy with his progress, they may be tempted to cash in and making an immediate profit on a player who has not made a single first-team appearance for the capital club.

Simeone may have no choice but to sell

‘Tempted’ is one word for it. The other is ‘desperate’ given the club’s reported financial plight.

Omorodion is fantastic in the air as well as being quick and strong. He comes into his own in a counter attacking side – so West Ham could have done with him this season.

The Nigerian-Spanish star also likes to dribble with the ball and is exciting to watch.

He will need to tidy up his game, though, if the Hammers do bring him to the Premier League.

There is no mention of Atletico Madrid’s valuation for Omorodion. But if they can treble their money then it could suit all parties and wouldn’t break the bank for West Ham’s owners.

You can see Omorodion in action in the obligatory YouTube video below.
