Starbucks employee reveals how they make new spicy lemonade refreshers

A Starbucks employee revealed how to make the brand’s new spicy lemonade refreshers which were launched at the start of the week alongside the mysterious spicy cream cold foam.

With Spring in full swing and Summer right around the corner, your favorite fast-food brands are gearing up to launch their version of sunshine-worthy beverages and food. Starbucks is no different, and while they might be celebrating their new release, rumors have already begun to spin about a potential blue refresher late this year.

How to make the spicy lemonade refreshers

The behind-the-scenes look at the Starbucks beverage process was posted by Graham (@grahamgraham88), who earlier revealed how to make the brand’s lavender latte. The process is remarkably simple.

To make the spicy pineapple refresher, which was described as bustling with the “sweet flavors of pineapple and passionfruit”, Graham filled a cocktail shaker with pineapple juice and the brand’s signature lemonade.

Finally, he topped the drink off with the secretive “spicy powder”, what appeared to be junks of pineapple and a generous scoop of ice. To finish, Graham gave the drink a vigorous shake and then filled a tall cup with the drink.

“That has a real kick to it,” Graham admitted. “Oh my god, that’s spicy. Enjoy.”

Starbucks is also offering its customers spicy dragonfruit and spicy strawberry options alongside a cold brew with spicy foam on top.

Reviews are in

Though reviews have been somewhat mixed for the Starbucks spicy lemonade refresher range, spice lovers are truly living their best lives at the moment.

In her review for Elite Daily, Jillian Giandurco raved about the strawberry and pineapple options while admitting that the dragonfruit was the least memorable.

“The fruity flavor is definitely at the forefront, but don’t underestimate the spicy aftertaste, because the heat quickly makes itself known by stinging the back of the throat,” she wrote about the strawberry refresher. “It sounds painful, but I’ll take that over burning lips any day.”

Similarly, in his YouTube review, @theendorsement said: “That is something. Wow. A couple more sips, what’s going on? Woah, that’s a backend hit for sure, get’s you on the back of the larynx, esophagus, and back of the throat. You get it a little bit, a tingle at the back of the throat, as it’s going through the motions of the sip. I wonder how much they put in there.”

Of course, not everyone agrees with the spicy lemonade refreshers, as one person scathed on Twitter: “I tried the spicy one yesterday to report back here. It’s terrible. It’s really spicy, like way more than I expected, and not great.”
