All pet owners should follow ingenious voice recording 'trick' if they're leaving their pet for vacation

Deciding what to do with your pets when you go on vacation can be a tough choice – do you hire a pet sitter or book your furry friend into a kennel or boarding service?

Obviously, this decision can be agonizing as the thought of leaving your pet with strangers can be a terrifying prospect. However, one pet sitter has taken to TikTok to urge owners to follow an ingenious trick when leaving their pets.

Video shows off ingenious voice recording pet trick

Posted by pet sitter and TikTok user @sunprophecy, the video shows a pet sitter attempting to attract the cat they’ve been charged with looking after.

“Pet owners please leave us pet sitters a recording of your voice,” reads the video’s caption.

The sitter demonstrates this trick by playing a voice clip of the cat’s owner calling it over and incredibly, the kitty happily trots across the garden to the sitter’s legs.

“Your pets miss you and it helps us gain trust,” says a second caption.

According to UK-based pet charity Cats Protection, our feline friends can recognize their owner’s voices. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see that playing a voice recording can help to soothe a cat whose owners have gone on vacation and help a pet sitter earn the trust of the cat they’re looking after.

Pet lovers react

The video from @sunprophecy has attracted plenty of comments from admiring viewers on social media.

One TikTok user said: “I always FaceTime my kitties with their sitters.”

To which the poster responded: “We love when owners do this with us or are on speaker phone. If you’re out of the country or in a no-service area, a recording is perfect!”

A second simply wrote: “This is brilliant though.”

“Such a great idea,” commented a third.

A fellow pet sitter wrote: “BRILLIANT! I’m going to ask my clients to send me a video or voice recording of them talking to/calling their pets from now on. Love this.”

And a final commenter said: “This how we got a dog that got loose at our kennels back. Between the owner’s voice and their housemate, they came willingly.”

That’s amazing,” responded @sunprophecy. “Once I called an owner and put her on speaker to help with retrieving her escape artist.”
