Tottenham summer target who has been likened to Mohamed Salah is now dreaming of Premier League move

Tottenham Hotspur have now received a potential transfer boost with one of their targets dreaming of a move to England.

This summer could provide Ange Postecoglou with the opportunity to put the finishing pieces on the squad he has built so far in north London.

The Australian has already seen Daniel Levy approve a number of transfers since his appointment last summer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And the arrival of Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and so on have offered Spurs with a new look to their starting XI.

However, there is still work to be done with the recent defeats to Fulham and Newcastle United showing Spurs are far from the finished product.

More arrivals will be seeked in the summer with one now seemingly eyeing up a possible move to the Premier League.

And he is a player who could certainly have offered Tottenham with a real threat in attack on the weekend in the heavy loss against the Toon.

Tottenham target is now dreaming of signing for a Premier League club

For the large part, Spurs have nailed their signings over the last two transfer windows.

The only real failure so far is looking like Alejo Veliz with the Argentine striker failing to make an impact for either Spurs or Sevilla.

Timo Werner‘s future remains up in the air going into the summer with Spurs now said to be looking to extend his loan.

With the option to purchase Werner permanently for £15m, this would suggest Tottenham are not fully convinced on what they’ve seen from the 28-year-old.

Now it seems like Spurs are looking to bolster their front line even further this summer with another player from Serie A.

It has been a market which Spurs have profited from in recent years with some key additions to their squad.

And now, Tuttosport [page 21] are claiming Tottenham’s summer target Albert Gudmundsson has his eyes on a dream move to the Premier League.

Although he would love to make the move to England, it is also claimed he would be more than willing to remain in Italy if Inter come knocking.

He is a player who is believed to be valued in the region of £34m this summer but Spurs will face stern competition.

But with comparisons to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, perhaps he is a player who would be worth the pursuit this summer.

“He reminds me of Salah when he was at Roma, in that every now and then he disappears. Much like Salah then, he would have four or five chances per match and only score at most one,” his teammate Kevin Strootman told Il Secolo XIX.

“They used to say that if Salah was more clinical, he would be playing for Liverpool, and that is exactly what happened. All joking aside, Gudmundsson is a devastating player and also an exemplary professional.”

What Ange Postecoglou has said may go against Spurs pursuing Albert Gudmundsson

One thing which has become apparent from Postecoglou’s time at the helm with Spurs is he is looking for the right sort of character.

“I don’t want those players. That’s a beautiful discussion for me to have. That’s one of the discussions I have: Why do you want to come to Tottenham? Because if you want Champions League football and that’s all you want, you don’t want to come to Tottenham; you just want to go to a Champions League club,” he said in a recent press conference.

It has already been suggested Gudmundsson is looking to play Champions League football next season.

Although Spurs are by no means out of the race for the top four, their hopes certainly took a big blow over the weekend.

And if Gudmundsson would be willing to reject Spurs simply because they may not have Champions League football, then that is a player Postecoglou will not want at his selection.
