Tottenham now waiting for green light to sign £50m midfielder Ange Postecoglou’s wanted since he arrived

Tottenham Hotspur are now lying in waiting for one of their summer targets to be made available by his current club.

The Lilywhites are set for another busy summer of signings after Ange Postecoglou‘s first full season in charge of the club.

Tottenham have shown a lot of improvement over the last 12 months under their Australian manager.

But there have still been a lot of signs where Spurs can still improve with last Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle United a prime example of just that.

One area which has come under some scrutiny recently has been in midfield with Yves Bissouma‘s displays leaving a lot to be desired.

The 27-year-old is currently the club’s biggest underperformer compared to the form he showed earlier in the season.

However, it does appear as if Tottenham are already eyeing up a potential replacement for their Mali midfielder ahead of the window open.

But Spurs are now said to be waiting to be given the green light to make their move.

Tottenham waiting on the go ahead to make £50m midfielder theirs this summer

The Lilywhites have a number of areas which they could potentially address this summer.

Daniel Levy has already provided Postecoglou with a fair few signings this season, but Tottenham have also had to deal with the loss of Harry Kane.

The Spurs News have been told that the club are looking to potentially add a couple of forwards, as well as a new defender and midfielder.

However, there has been one player who has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer and that is Conor Gallagher.

The Chelsea midfielder is still to find a breakthrough on his contract situation with the Blues ahead of the summer.

And now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are lying in wait to make their move for Postecoglou’s long-term target.

“Conor Gallagher remains on Tottenham’s shortlist. He’s a super-appreciated player at Spurs. He’s been on Ange Postecoglou’s list since day one and has always been a player he loves,” said Romano.

“So, I think Tottenham will be there if Chelsea decide to sell the player in the summer transfer window. But for sure, Gallagher remains a player that is appreciated by Tottenham, and they’re waiting for Chelsea’s final decision on that one.”

Mauricio Pochettino has already provided glowing reviews of Conor Gallagher

It has been claimed Chelsea would be looking for a fee in the region of £50m this summer if they are to allow Gallagher to leave.

And it is apparent Mauricio Pochettino has loved what he has seen from the England international already this season.

Speaking earlier in the year after Gallagher scored a brace against Crystal Palace, the former Spurs boss said: “I think he is a player with a great commitment to the team.”

“He is always trying to compensate in every situation, in offensive and defensive situations. It’s priceless to have a player like him.”

Postecoglou is such a fan of the 24-year-old, it has even been suggested that he wants him signed by Spurs in time for the pre-season tour of Asia.
