‘He has to do something’: Ian Wright names the one signing Arsenal have to make this summer

Arsenal’s season has gone off the rails a bit over the past two weeks.

The Gunners have lost ground in the title race and are now out of the Champions League, and attention is slowly but surely turning towards the summer transfer window.

Indeed, there’s been plenty of chat as of late about what Arsenal need to do this summer, and speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has given his verdict on something Arsenal ned to do.

According to the pundit, Arsenal need to address the left-back spot this summer after lots of rotation between Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior as of late.

Arsenal need to sign a left-back

Wright spoke about the Gunners’ needs.

“It’s another season where we’ve gone so far, but it’s not over for us. That’s how I feel at the moment, we’re inexperienced, we’re short, he has to do something about that left-back spot,” Wright said.

Arsenal signing a left-back won’t be easy

Wright says that Arsenal need to sign a left-back, but that won’t be easy.

Indeed, there aren’t tons of quality left-backs on the market right now, and even those who are available don’t necessarily fit into what Arsenal want.

The Gunners play such a unique style in that position as they ask their left defender to act sometimes as a third centre-back and sometimes as an auxiliary midfielder.

Luckily, there may be an in-house solution for Arsenal.

Jurrien Timber should be back from injury soon, and perhaps if he can get back to his best form upon his return he will be able to tick the boxes that Arsenal are looking for in that position.

Regardless of how Arsenal solve this problem this summer, it’s certainly one that needs addressing sooner rather than later.
