The pub is putting on a three-course dinner on Friday, April 26 at 7pm at £40-a-head, using the World Central Kitchen (WCK) Cookbook - a selection of recipes sourced from all the areas where WCK has worked over the years.

The pub is donating all the ingredients and the staff time to prepare and serve the meal.

Kate Ahrens, a chef at Palmers, said: “We were so impressed with the ethos of World Central Kitchen.

“Its founder Jose Andres has built an organisation that not only works to feed people in crisis fast but also works in tandem with the people who are directly affected to bring them the food they actually want – comfort food that can bring familiarity and comfort to traumatised people as well as just basic nutrition.

“At Palmers, we have always been committed to food as a social and community experience and we wanted to find a way to make a contribution, however small, to support the work that World Central Kitchen does.”

Sophie Holden, landlady of Palmers, added: “Things in the hospitality trade are very difficult at the moment and it is easy to get focussed on our own problems but there are many millions of people all over the world who are in real crisis.

“We want to use the small platform that we have to raise some money to support World Central Kitchen and the thousands they work with.”

Tickets are on sale for £40 per person and every penny will go to WCK and can be purchased by calling the pub on 01406 365554
