'Wow': Jurgen Klopp says Arsenal have done something nobody expected

Jurgen Klopp has now said Arsenal recently did something that nobody expected the Gunners to do.

Both the German and Mikel Arteta experienced eerily similar weeks, suffering shock defeats to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively to potentially derail their Premier League title hopes.

Klopp and the Spaniard also watched their sides crash out of Europe with defeats against Atalanta and Bayern Munich respectively, meaning hopes of any silverware for Liverpool and Arsenal depend on Manchester City slipping up – a familiar story for both the Reds and the Gunners.

So, what did Arsenal do recently that Jurgen Klopp believes nobody expected? Let’s take a look…

Jurgen Klopp says Arsenal did something nobody expected

Well, the 56-year-old claims nobody expected Arsenal to taste defeat against Aston Villa last week.

Late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins secured a 2-0 win for the Villans at the Emirates Stadium, which provided a huge boost to Unai Emery’s hopes of taking Aston Villa into the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking about that shock result, Klopp said: “I think if we would win all our games, yeah, there’s a good chance that we will be champion. If not, yeah, then it’s a good chance that somebody is there. Maybe we only have to win five or whatever, but nobody knows.

“Who would have thought that Arsenal lose against Aston Villa? But it was always clear if you are a football person, you think, ‘Aston Villa, wow’ – we have to go there still, so that’s not one of my favourite away games or whatever – but it just happens. Now we all sit here and think, ‘OK, (Manchester) City will win all their games.’ Yeah, that’s happened quite frequently, but they have a lot of games to play, difficult opponents as well, stuff like this. We don’t think about them.”
