‘Good relationship’: Andre Onana says £41m Man United player is his best friend at the club now

Andre Onana hasn’t had the easiest of debut seasons at Manchester United.

The goalkeeper has made a number of high-profile errors when it comes to shot-stopping, and while he’s been solid with the ball at his feet, it would be difficult to call this a successful season.

That said, Onana does seem to have settled in well at Old Trafford on a personal level. He’s still as confident as ever, and, by the sounds of it, he’s made a number of friends within the squad.

Speaking to the FA Cup on TikTok, Onana has now shared who his best friend at United is after joining in the summer.

Onana spoke about his friendships at United and the fact he’s close with Raphael Varane.

“Who is your best friend at the club?

“I have a good relationship with all of them, with all of the players, but if I had to choose one I’d say Raphael Varane,” Onana said.

Andre Onana’s easy adaptation

It’s great to hear that Onana has so many friends at United, and, to be honest, his adaptation should’ve been quite easy.

Onana speaks a number of languages so he should be able to communicate with his teammates easily, while he also knows a number of the current United crop from his time at Ajax.

Indeed, Erik ten Hag has signed a number of players who worked together at Ajax, and that makes life much easier in terms of settling at a new club.

Unfortunately, Onana’s happiness behind the scenes hasn’t always translated to good performances on the pitch, but hopefully the goalkeeper’s fortunes can improve next season and going forwards.

There’s reportedly a lot of unrest behind the scenes at United this season, but it sounds as though Onana hasn’t found it too difficult to settle in.
