Ex-Tottenham striker begs Daniel Levy to sign Bundesliga forward with ‘blistering pace’

Tottenham Hotspur will surely be in the market for attacking signings this summer as the wait over Timo Werner’s future at the club goes on.

Ange Postecoglou lost Harry Kane last summer and has signed two attackers since that huge departure.

Brennan Johnson arrived from Nottingham Forest, offering speed and versatility to play across the front line rather than being a classic number nine.

Tottenham then pounced to sign Timo Werner on loan in January and he has been used in similar ways.

The German has mostly operated on the left flank, driving at defenders to either cut inside and shoot or go on the outside and fizz the ball across goal.

Spurs preferring to land those versatile forwards is an interesting approach after losing Kane but a big decision is on the horizon.

Tottenham can sign Werner permanently from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £15million this summer and Postecoglou will be weighing up whether to go ahead with a deal.

Spurs would be wise to have alternatives in mind as well though and Daniel Levy is now being encouraged to sign another Bundesliga forward.

Mido urges Tottenham to sign Omar Marmoush

Reports in February suggested that Tottenham had joined the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt ace Omar Marmoush.

Former Tottenham striker Mido has now taken to social media to virtually beg Spurs to strike a deal for his fellow Egyptian.

Mido posted that he actually told Tottenham to sign another Egyptian – none other than Mohamed Salah – when he was still playing for Basel.

Salah went on to become a superstar at Liverpool and Mido doesn’t want Tottenham to make the same mistake again.

Mido believes that Marmoush is ideal for Postecoglou’s style of play, highlighting his versatility to operate on the flanks.

The ex-Spurs forward even pleaded with Levy to strike a deal, calling Marmoush a ‘hard worker’ and a ‘top professional’.

Marmoush’s season in focus

Marmoush does appear to be on Tottenham’s radar already, so maybe Mido will get his wish.

The former Wolfsburg forward has been in superb form this season, hitting 11 goals and six assists in 25 Bundesliga games.

Add in four goals across seven Europa Conference League outings and Marmoush is enjoying a fine campaign.

Primarily playing up front, Marmoush has also been used off the striker and out wide, showing off his attacking versatility.

It’s a while since we saw Mido and Hossam Ghaly turning out for Tottenham whilst flying the flag for Egypt, but perhaps Marmoush can follow in their footsteps this summer.
