'I'm sorry'... BBC pundit says 'different planet' Crystal Palace ace will leave this summer

BBC pundit Danny Murphy has warned Crystal Palace that one of Oliver Glasner’s top talents won’t be at Selhurst Park next season, in reaction to his performance against West Ham.

While it’s been a below-par season for Crystal Palace over the 2023/24 calendar, things seem to be looking up with Oliver Glasner at the wheel.

The Austrian endured a difficult start to life at Selhurst Park after arriving in February however, recent results have hinted at a sign of positive things to come for the manager in South London.

On Sunday, the Eagles recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this term by beating West Ham 5-2, building on their stellar 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield the week prior.

Now, Glasner will hope to keep the momentum up as Palace approach the final five games of the season although, there will be some anxiety creeping in over the future of a host of star talents ahead of the summer transfer window.

Crystal Palace warned that Eberechi Eze will leave the club in the summer

For all the highs that Palace experienced in their emphatic 5-2 win over West Ham on Sunday, BBC pundit Danny Murphy was quick to inject some negative energy when analysing the Eagles’ display.

Dissecting the game on BBC Match of the Day 2, Murphy was full of praise for Eberechi Eze, who was remarkably good against the Hammers, adding that he doubts the Englishman will be at Selhurst Park next season.

“They were all outstanding but Eze was on a different planet today.

“He hasn’t played a lot this season but when he is fit, he’s as good as I’ve seen, he’s a Champions League player, I’m sorry Palace fans but he will not be there next season.

“This is an unbelievable talent.”

Crystal Palace will be prepared to receive interest for Eberechi Eze

After his performance against West Ham, and throughout the season, it’s no surprise that admirers of the 25-year-old expect him to leave Palace in the summer.

The dynamic attacker is consistently integral to how the Eagles play, as highlighted against West Ham as he scored, assisted and was simply a nightmare for the visitors to deal with throughout the match.

The issue that Glasner will more than likely be presented with is the demand for both Eze and fellow superstar, Michael Olise, with the prospect of losing both players being something the Eagles would struggle to imagine.

Despite being absent throughout the campaign due to injury, the duo have had a hand in 22 of Palace’s 42 goals in the league this season, scoring a combined 15 and assisting seven between them, telling of their importance.

It will be interesting to see just how the club navigate potential interest in the duo but for now, Glasner will continue to reap the benefits of a fit and firing Eze.
