Rarely-seen ace unleashed in 1 change by Glasner: Predicted Crystal Palace XI v West Ham - Our View

Crystal Palace return to action in the Premier League this afternoon against West Ham, giving Oliver Glasner a decision to make over selection, here’s our Palace predicted lineup…

After the highs of last week’s win against Liverpool at Anfield, Oliver Glasner will hope to see his Crystal Palace side replicate such performance as West Ham pay a visit to Selhurst Park this afternoon.

The Austrian became the first Premier League manager to win at Anfield this season with Palace’s 1-0 victory to derail Liverpool’s title hopes, and will now be in a bid to do something else for the first time this term against the Hammers.

A win against David Moyes’ side could see the Eagles secure back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season, telling of their difficulty in building form throughout the 2023/24 calendar.

There will be a number of decisions for the boss to make ahead of selecting his XI to battle the East Londoners, with some injury updates forcing changes to be made.

In goal, the manager will select Dean Henderson, who was impressive against Liverpool last week and will look to continue his form in the absence of Sam Johnstone.

At the back is where change is set to be made, with Jefferson Lerma out due to a hamstring injury in what is a significant blow when considering his marvellous display at Anfield last week.

Further doubts at the back over Chris Richards and Joel Ward could see Glasner start with a back three of Joachim Andersen, Nathaniel Clyne and the hardly-seen James Tomkins, who has played less than 10 minutes over three appearances in the league this term.

Fortunately, Palace should see Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell start on the flanks, two players who were also highly impressive against Liverpool.

In midfield, Adam Wharton, lauded as ‘classy’ by Chris Sutton, will be a crucial figure in Glasner’s side however, the Englishman may not be in the good books for his antics in training after knocking over Will Hughes.

Hughes was another key part of Palace’s win over Liverpool and is a slight doubt for the Eagles although, there will be a great hope that he can start.

In attack comes the reliable front three of Michael Olise, Jean Philippe-Mateta and Eberechi Eze, who showed their class in abundance against Liverpool last week.

Dubbed ‘magnificent’ for their work in attack by Alan Shearer, the trio will be integral to the threat that Glasner’s side can put on West Ham, who may be slightly jaded from their Europa League antics on Thursday night.

It will be hoped that the Eagles can secure their first back-to-back wins this season against the Hammers, in what is poised to be a thriller at Selhurst Park after the squad’s heroics at Anfield last week.
